Submissions for our Blog are OPEN.

We accept submissions for our Blog on a rolling basis. You’re welcome to submit up to 2 pieces of prose, each under <1500 words (essays, creative nonfiction & fiction all welcome) or up to 5 poems (up to 5 pages total). After you’ve received a response from us, please wait at least 1 month before submitting again.

There’s no specific theme for Blog submissions, but Somewhere, Softly as a literary hub values writing about place, transitions, optimism, resistance, community, and hope. We encourage you to think about why you’re choosing Somewhere, Softly as a potential home for your work, and why you think your piece is a good fit for us.

Please note that Somewhere, Softly is purely a passion project right now, therefore we unfortunately cannot afford to pay our contributors. We do accept simultaneous submissions (just let us know asap if your work is accepted elsewhere), and we also accept work that has been previously published on social media or your personal blog. This is because we believe in your right to share your own writing as and when you’re ready to, and we also believe this shouldn’t limit you – you should have the opportunity to get as many eyes on your work as possible. We will not accept work that has been previously curated (appeared in another literary journal/magazine).

All writing must be the original work of the author (no AI). Where the author has involved others’ work for creative purposes, this should be clearly indicated.

Submissions for Ametrine Zine are not yet open. We accept art/photography as well as poetry and prose. Thank you so much for your interest – keep an eye on this page and follow us on Substack & Instagram to find out how you can be part of Issue 0 soon!
